The original idea for A Friend of Bill's was conceived by Billy Booth while he was working the 12 step recovery program within Alcoholics Anonymous. Billy has sober since 1988 and early on he felt there was a need for a structured living environment for certain alcoholics and addicts who seemed to always repeat their destructive behavior. Billy felt that a living environment that respected the client as an individual and strongly encouraged a 12 step program in Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous was the best course of action.
Billy, doing business as A Friend of Bill's, opened his first recovery home / halfway house in Hendersonville, TN in January of 1998. The next year Cathy Booth, Billy's wife, joined the business and together they opened a second recovery home in Lebanon, Tennessee. Cathy has been sober since 1998. Together, Billy and Cathy use their many years of sober experience to guide the residents of A Friend of Bill's.

Cathy has six years of sobriety and is active in area groups of
the Alcoholics Anonymous Fellowship. Together, Billy and
Cathy use their 22 years of sober experience to guide the residents
of A Friend of Bill's.
In January of 2003, there were nineteen residents at A Friend
of Bill's. In that year alone fourteen remained sober.
Due to the success of the program and demand
from treatment centers and the courts, an additional three recovery houses have been opened since that time. Our
latest one opened in 2006 in Henderson, Kentucky. There are now five houses
with a total of seventy-four beds available for recovering clients. Our
success rate remains the highest in the area.
Because of the success with recovering clients, several
officials from area courts and recovery organizations have seen
fit to lend their endorsements to A Friend of Bill's.
As can be seen from the testimonials, A Friend of Bill's cares
about the recovering clients and works diligently to help them
achieve a quality
life
in sobriety.
